Drama Club to Present "Larceny and Old Lace":

The 2008 Oakdale Drama Club will present Van Vandagriff's hilarious comedy
Larceny and Old Lace.  Vandagriff’s amusing spoof of the classic Arsenic and Old
Lace invites audiences to participate in robbing banks and casinos and hunting
and burying treasure.  In this modern version, audiences meet the two money-
hungry aunts, Gertie and Millie, the skittish nephew Harold, his sassy fiancée
Gloria, the jolly pirate Charlie (brother to Gertie and Millie), the morbid bank robber
Mordred, and his stumbling sidekick Lester. Other phenomenal characters include:
one elderly judge (Taylor), two bumbling police officers (McNealy and Larson), two
clueless FBI agents (Klick and Klack), two confused doctors (Shortanour and
Pretorious), one beautiful Swedish nurse (Widget), and one enraged taxi driver.

The excitement begins as Harold discovers his aunts are not “winning big” but
“stealing big.”  Then, Officer McNealy reports a bank robbery.  Now with two sets of
thieves and two bags of loot, poor Harold tries to untangle the twisted plot.
Audiences will ask themselves, “who will get the money?” and “who will get
caught?”  The quick-witted dialogue, fast-paced action, and a crazy collection of
characters will provide an evening of enjoyment by all who attend.  The play is
under the direction of English teacher Julie Johnson.
